Chairwoman Johnson Congratulates Kenneth Graham on Selection to Serve as NWS Director
(Dallas, TX) – Today, Kenneth Graham has been selected as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Assistant Administrator for Weather Services and as the 17th Director of NOAA’s National Weather Service (NWS). Mr. Graham was selected by the Administrator of NOAA and Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere, Rick Spinrad, and approved by the Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.
“I welcome and congratulate Mr. Kenneth Graham on his selection as the next Director of the National Weather Service,” said Chairwoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX). “The Committee has had an excellent working experience with the NWS for many years, and we are eager to continue this relationship under Mr. Graham’s leadership. Mr. Graham has exhibited a strong commitment to science, integrity, and unquestionable expertise over his 28 years of service within the NWS. Most recently as Director of NOAA's National Hurricane Center, he led the nation through four tumultuous hurricane seasons, including 30 named hurricanes. I look forward to working alongside Mr. Graham in his new role as he upholds the NWS mission of providing accurate weather data for the protection of life and property.”
